Parent Workshops

At St James’ Primary School, we continue to work on increasing invites to parents to Workshops to support their child’s learning at home. For those parents who are unable to make our workshops, information from the workshops can be found and downloaded below.

All parents are welcome to attend Parent Workshops. We are continually trying to meet the needs of our pupils and parents therefore if you have any feedback regarding the workshops please see Miss Brady or Mr Lloyd.

Key Stage 1 “Ready Readers Phonics” (Tuesday 1st February 2022)

Our “Ready Readers” workshop involved willing volunteers who attended our introductory workshop and who can help listen to readers through the week in school to encourage our children to read more.

This workshop included a number of aims and will hopefully inform you about:

• To have an understanding of the teaching and learning of reading and phonics

• Be familiar with the vocabulary of reading

• Understand how you can help children with phonics and reading

• Know about the end of KS1 SATs for reading in Year 2
